Team Kenya captain John Lejirma is showing no signs of slowing down.

Fresh off another stellar performance at NCBA Golf Field Trophy at Kakamega Golf Club, the Royal Nairobi Golf Club player clinched the NCBA Limuru Open title over the weekend.

He carded a total of 4-under-par 212 in the three-day tournament.

“I want to remain consistent and take every challenge head-on,” Lejirma told Golf Score Kenya after sealing the victory.

“Limuru was a solid test of patience and precision, the conditions demanded a lot, and I’m proud of how I navigated it. The consistency I’m building round after round is encouraging.”

The win did not come easy.

Lejirma had started the final round two shots behind overnight leader Dennis Maara, but kept his cool with a composed front nine of 35 and a blistering back nine of 32 to finish one shot ahead of Ndumberi’s Elvis Muigai.

This marks Lejirma’s fifth consecutive Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) title and his seventh win of the season from 10 events, an unmatched run that cements his status as the top-ranked amateur in the country.

He has also won the NCBA Windsor Classic, NCBA Kisii Open ‘Shabana Trophy’, NCBA Ronald Marshall, NCBA Coronation Cup, and NCBA Ruiru Open.

He now leads the KAGC standings with 2,000 points, ahead of Michael Karanga (1,095) and Elvis Muigai (959), and is on course for a potentially historic season.

At Limuru, Muigai also put on a strong display, closing with a three-under-par 70 for a total of 213 (-3) to finish second.

His consistency across all three rounds (72-71-70) kept the pressure on till the end.

It was a tough finish for local favorite Dennis Maara of Limuru Country Club. After leading into the final day, a disappointing 77 dropped him to third place at +2 (218).

Daniel Kiragu of Muthaiga took fourth at +4 (220), while Nyali’s Adel Balala and Ndumberi’s Steve Kiaro tied for fifth on +6 (222).
