Daniel Nduva delivered a composed and clinical performance to win the opening leg of the 2025 PGK Equator Tour at Ruiru Sports Club.

The Nyali Golf and Country Club star finished at an impressive 18-under-par 274 after four rounds of intense competition.

He held his nerve in the final round, carding a steady 71 to edge out David Wakhu by two shots.

Wakhu, who mounted a strong weekend charge, settled for second at 16-under-par 276, with Njoroge Kibugu finishing a close third on 15-under-par 277.

Nduva set the pace early with a sizzling 68 in the first round, followed by a solid 69 in Round 2.

A brilliant 66 in Round 3 catapulted him to the top of the leaderboard heading into the final day, where he stayed composed and sealed the win with crucial birdies on the back nine.

“It feels very good to win the opening leg,” said Nduva.

“Last year, we (professional golfers) did not have many tournaments, but the PGK Equator Tour is a great platform for us to sharpen our game,” he said.

Nduva noted that while his driver and putting were on point, he plans to improve his wedge control for upcoming events.

“My distance control with wedges was a bit off in Ruiru. That’s what I’ll be focusing on next,” he added.

The four-day tournament attracted 51 of Kenya’s top professionals, a mix of seasoned players and rising stars, under the newly launched PGK Player Development Program, which features 12 events this year.

Sponsored by NCBA, Kenya Airways, Visa, Britam, Safaricom, and Diageo, the PGK Equator Tour aims to elevate the standard of professional golf in Kenya and prepare local players for international competition.
