
Kevin Anyien delivered a stirring final-round comeback to outplay a strong field of seasoned competitors and claim the 3rd NCBA Great Rift Valley Championship on Sunday, February 15.
The event, which marked the third leg of the 2026 Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) Series, was staged at the picturesque Great Rift Valley Resort and attracted the country’s top amateur golfers.
Representing Windsor Golf Hotel & Country Club, Anyien overturned a deficit with a composed closing round of 69, having opened with rounds of 75 and 76.
His total of seven-over-par 220 proved enough to secure the title.
Clubmate Kamoza Longwe mounted a strong challenge but had to settle for second place on 10-over-par 223 after rounds of 78, 74 and 71.
Home player Kevin Barasa completed the podium positions at 12-over-par 225.
Wasim Ali of Vet Lab Sports Club finished fourth on 226 (+13), while Isaac Makokha and Stephen Gichari shared fifth place at 227 (+14).
The victory significantly boosted Anyien’s standing on the 2026 KAGC Order of Merit, lifting him to fifth place with 110 points after three legs.
Youngster Junaid Manji continues to lead the rankings with 280 points, followed by Rafael Leming’ani on 186.00.
Elvis Muigua sits third with 120 points, while Jacques Byiringiro occupies fourth spot on 112.50 points.

Meanwhile, as elite amateurs battled in Naivasha, emerging junior talent took centre stage at the NCBA US Kids Golf Local Tour event held at Vet Lab Sports Club on Sunday, February 15.
Victor Haland claimed victory in the Boys 6 & Under division with a score of 44 (+8), while Aryan Patel topped the Boys 8 category on 42 (+6).
James Tino impressed in the Boys 9 class with a two-over-par 38, and Mohamed Mtsumi posted one of the day’s standout rounds in the Boys 10 division, finishing at +1 (37).
In the older boys’ categories, Paren Reel (Boys 11) and Shuhan Peng (Boys 13–14) returned solid scores of +2 and +3 respectively over 18 holes, while Savir Shah led the Boys 15–18 division with an 82 (+10).

The girls also showcased impressive form.
Sanayah Sultan won the Girls 8 & Under division on 46 (+10), Avanti Bongu secured the Girls 9–10 title with 43 (+7), and Aria Dodhia produced one of the finest rounds of the day, carding +1 (73) in the Girls 11–12 class.
Siqian Yu rounded off the winners list with an 81 (+9) in the Girls 13–14 category.
