Kenya Golf Team Captain John Lejirma extended his dominance on the Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) circuit with an emphatic victory at the NCBA Golf Field Trophy held over the weekend at Kakamega Golf Club.
Lejirma, who plays for Royal Nairobi Golf Club, delivered a superb performance across all three rounds, carding scores of 68, 74, and 67 for a total of 209 gross.
His score of 7-under-par saw him win the tournament by an impressive nine strokes, comfortably ahead of his closest rival.
“It feels so great coming back and successfully defending my title. I’ve been on a good run recently, and I’m really grateful for that,” said Lejirma.
The battle for second place saw Golf Park’s Sammy Mulama finish with a total score of 218 (+2), following consistent rounds of 74, 72, and 72.
Cedric Konzolo of Kakamega Sports Club settled for third place at +3 (219), showing resilience on his home course but falling just short of overtaking Mulama.
Nakuru Golf Club’s John Kamaisi came in fourth with a total of 220 (+4), while Josphat Rono, also of Golf Park Golf Club, rounded out the top five at +5 (221).
This latest triumph marks Lejirma’s fourth consecutive win on the KAGC calendar and sixth overall title this season, underlining his supremacy in the local amateur golf scene.
Out of the nine events he has participated in this year, he has stood at the top in two-thirds of them—a remarkable feat for the national team captain.
“See you in the next tournament—same treatment,” he warned rivals.

On turning professional, Lejirma told Golf Score Kenya that he is not in a rush.
“There’s always some pressure to turn pro when you’re playing well, but for me, it’s important to transition at the right time. I’d like to see a clear, concrete calendar of events that would support that move sustainably. I’m not in a rush, I want to do it the right way, not just the fast way,” he said.
Lejirma, who was a late entry for the Kakamega event, added 165 more points to take his tally for the campaign to 1,720, cementing his place at the top of the leaderboard.
Michael Karanga, who missed the Kakamega event, sits second with 1,063 points, while Elvis Muigua remains a distant third with 795 points.
Next on the KAGC calendar is the NCBA Limuru Open & Brackenhurst Cup, set for this weekend from July 4th to July 6th at the Limuru Country Club.
