The 2025 NCBA Golf Series heads into a landmark weekend with its first regional doubleheader set to take place this Saturday, June 14, at Karen Country Club in Nairobi and Uganda Golf Club in Kampala.

These events mark the 13th and 14th qualifying legs of the popular series.

A total of 260 players are expected to tee off at the par-72 Karen course, while Uganda Golf Club will welcome over 200 golfers, all vying for top honors across multiple categories.

These include Overall Men’s Gross Winner, Overall Ladies’ Gross Winner, Division Two Men’s and Ladies’ Winners, Division Three Overall Winner, and Junior Winner. Victors in each category will book their spots at the highly anticipated NCBA Series Grand Finale later this year.

Last year, Uganda Golf Club’s Aggrey Mutaka led a strong team of six to the Grand Finale at Muthaiga Golf Club after topping his category in the Kampala qualifier.

He was joined by Division One Lady Winner Judith Komugisha, Division Two Men’s Winner Arthur Gwaku, Division Two Ladies’ Winner Peace Muyege, Division Three Winner Michael Bironse, and Junior Winner Gabriel Aman.

NCBA Group Director John Gachora said they are are excited to support a busy and vibrant weekend for golf with three key events taking place: the first regional doubleheader of the 2025 NCBA Golf Series at Karen Country Club and Uganda Golf Club and the NCBA Ruiru Open which is part of the Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) Series.

“These tournaments highlight our commitment to growing golf across the region, providing platforms for golfers to showcase their talent and fostering the spirit of competition and community. We look forward to witnessing outstanding performances and the continued development of golf in East Africa,” he said.

This weekend’s twin qualifiers come hot on the heels of a successful 12th leg held at Kitale Golf Club, which drew a competitive field of 120 golfers.

In Kitale, Evans Kirui and Josephine Chesang claimed the overall gross titles with scores of 81 and 95 respectively.

Division Two honors went to Michael Chege (37 points) and Josephine Njeri (33 points), while Ann Atieno emerged as Division Three winner with 42 points.
