At least 104 players will be competing in the NCBA Ruiru Open, which teed off today Friday, June 13 to Sunday, June 15, 2025, at Ruiru Sports Club.
Leading the charge is championship frontrunner John Lejirma, who sits atop the NCBA KAGC standings with 1,185 points.
Lejirma returns to Ruiru aiming to defend his title, having won last year’s edition with a dominant 11-under-par finish.
Joining the competitive field is Michael Karanga of Kiambu Golf Club, currently ranked second with 903 points, along with an impressive lineup of elite women golfers including Joyce Wanjiru (Kiambu), Bianca Ngecu (Muthaiga), Naomi Wafula (Vipingo), and rising teenage star Kanana Muthomi (Windsor).
All players will contest the opening two rounds, with only the top 33 and ties advancing to the final round on Sunday.
The tournament features a prize purse of Ksh 500,000, providing strong incentive for peak performance.
As a World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR)-sanctioned event, the Ruiru Open also offers participants the chance to earn valuable international ranking points.
“The tournament will follow the Rules of Golf as approved by R&A Rules Limited, along with the KAGC Local Rules and any special conditions set by the Tournament Committee,” said Tournament Director Brian Akun.
“Thanks to the continued support of NCBA Bank, we are seeing remarkable progress in amateur golf across Kenya. The NCBA Golf Series has expanded competitive opportunities for players nationwide.”
