The 15th leg of the 2025 NCBA Golf Series heads to Ruiru Sports Club this Saturday, drawing a record field of over 260 golfers in what organizers expect to be one of the most competitive and well-attended events on the calendar.

The tournament, to be played on the par-73 Ruiru course, will see players compete for top honors across multiple categories, including Overall Men’s and Ladies’ Gross Winners, Division 2 and 3 champions, and Junior winners.

Winners in each category will earn coveted spots in the NCBA Golf Series Grand Finale later this year.

Last year’s edition saw Angelus Maina claim the Men’s Division One title with 36 stableford points, while Catherine Wambui took the Ladies’ category with 29 points.

This weekend’s tournament comes hot on the heels of a successful East Africa doubleheader held last week at Karen Country Club in Kenya and Uganda Golf Club, which drew a combined 460 golfers—underscoring the growing popularity of the regional series.

NCBA Group Managing Director John Gachora expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming leg.

“After a packed and exciting weekend in Karen and Uganda, we now shift gears to Ruiru, which has consistently delivered an outstanding golf experience,” said Gachora.

“We remain committed to promoting the sport across the country and look forward to another memorable event this weekend.”

At Karen, Gilbert Maina shot an impressive 74 gross off handicap 4 to claim the overall title, while Koki Muia secured the Ladies’ Gross title with a round of 81.

Other top performers included Peter Marandu (handicap 11) with 40 points in Division One, and Betty Gacheru (handicap16) with 42 points in the Division Two Ladies’ category.

Cyllus Onyango (handicap 14) won the Men’s Division Two with 41 points on countback, and Kenneth Muraguri (handicap 26) led Division Three, also with 41 points.

In the junior category, Nathan Gikemi emerged victorious with 39 points off handicap 24.

In Uganda, Gabriel Amani stole the spotlight with a standout 47-point round to clinch the overall winner’s title.

Other notable winners included Godwill Bindeeba, who topped the Men’s Division One with 45 points, and Judith Komugisha, who successfully defended her Ladies’ title.
