Rwanda’s Celestin Nsanzuwera delivered a thrilling final-round performance to capture the SunDev East Africa Swing Johnnie Walker Classic title at Diamonds Leisure Golf Club in Diani.

Starting the final day one shot behind leader Dismas Indiza at 1-under-par 143, Nsanzuwera surged ahead with a flawless front nine, carding birdies on the 2nd, 4th, 8th, and 9th.

A bogey on the 10th, after his approach shot struck a tree, was quickly offset by a birdie at the 12th.

Though he dropped shots on the 14th and 17th to briefly lose his lead, the Rwandan kept his composure and birdied the last hole to finish with a 5-under-par final round and secure the championship.

“I feel excited. This win came from nowhere, but I stuck to my game plan,” said Nsanzuwera, who pocketed KSh 400,000 and 210 OWGR points.

“It’s even more special heading into Kigali next month with this momentum.”

Indiza, who started at 5-under, saw his title bid unravel on the 10th with a costly double bogey, and later a triple bogey on the 18th after finding both the bush and bunker.

He settled for second place, earning KSh 214,000 and 172.5 points.

Uganda’s Ronald Rugumayo claimed third with a 2-under-par final round to finish even-par, while Nyali leg winner Njoroge Kibugu was fourth at 2-over-par.

The Diani stop attracted 61 elite golfers from across East, West, and Central Africa.

The Sunshine Development Tour now takes a short break before resuming with the fifth leg in Kigali from September 3–5, where players will chase prize money, OWGR, and WAGR points—key to qualifying for global events, including the Olympics.

The Diani event was sponsored by EABL through Johnnie Walker, alongside Magical Kenya and Pure Travels, who offered the hole-in-one prize.
