After enduring a two-year winless stretch, Isaac Makokha finally reclaimed victory on Sunday by clinching the 2025 NCBA Railways Invitation at the par-72 Kenya Railway Golf Club.

Makokha, representing the host club, carded rounds of 68, 71, and 72 for a total of 211, finishing five-under-par to secure the title.

The win was a much-needed return to form for Makokha, who last tasted victory in 2023 when he lifted the Uhuru Shield Trophy at Royal Nairobi Golf Club.

“I last won a trophy in 2023, and I’m so excited for this victory, and I hope to maintain this momentum by God’s grace,” said Makokha.

Makokha’s career highlights include winning the 2020 Kenya Amateur Matchplay Championship and making history as Kenya’s first-ever Deaflympic golf medalist, claiming bronze at the 2022 Deaflympics in Brazil.

Chasing him closely at Railways was Michael Karanga of Ndumberi Golf Club, who carded rounds of 72, 72, and a closing 68 to finish on four-under-par 212, just one shot behind.

Royal Nairobi’s John Lejirma claimed third place with a one-over-par total of 217, while Kenya Railway’s Fidhelis Kimanzi and Muthaiga’s Daniel Kiragu settled for fourth and fifth positions with totals of 225 (+9) and 226 (+10), respectively.

With this victory, Makhoha climbs to 4th on the standings with 753 points. Lejirma is still top with 2050 points followed by Karanga with 1712 and Elvis Muigus on 1046.

The NCBA Railways Invitation, one of the prestigious events on the KAGC calendar, once again attracted top amateur talent from across the country, delivering thrilling golf at the historic Railway course.
