Isaac Makokha, who on Sunday clinched the NCBA Manchester Salver at Eldoret Club, has now set his sights on the 2025 Tokyo Deaflympics.
Makokha made history as Kenya’s first-ever Deaflympic golf medalist, winning bronze at the 2022 Deaflympics in Brazil.
His Eldoret triumph marked his second Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) Series title of the 2025 season.
Earlier on August 31, he secured his first title of the year during the NCBA Railways Invitational at the Kenya Railway Golf Club — ending a two-year winless stretch since lifting the Uhuru Shield Trophy at Royal Nairobi Golf Club in 2023.
Speaking to Golf Score Kenya, Makokha said his immediate goal is to capture gold for Kenya when he tees off in Tokyo next week.
“I am aiming to play even better in Tokyo than I did in my past successful tournaments at Railways, Nyali, or Eldoret. My biggest motivation is to get my first gold medal for Africa and make Kenya proud,” said Makokha.
At Eldoret, during the fourth edition of the NCBA Manchester Salver, Makokha carded an impressive total of +5 (R1 – 73, R2 – 74, R3 – 71) to lift the title, beating a field of 78 elite golfers who were vying for a total prize fund of KSh 400,000.
Makokha described the win as deeply personal.
“Winning the second cup in Eldoret, which is my hometown, was very meaningful because it completed a childhood dream. I dedicated this victory to my late father, who worked at the Eldoret Golf Club. That made the achievement truly special,” he said.

Looking ahead, Makokha plans to maintain his strong form after Tokyo.
“After the Deaflympics, I plan to return to local golf tournaments. My goal is to win more than three additional trophies before the end of the 2025 calendar,” he added.
At Eldoret, Windsor Golf Hotel and Country Club’s Elvis Muigua was another standout, showing remarkable consistency to finish among the top contenders with a steady +6 overall score.
The NCBA Manchester Salver, part of the ongoing KAGC Series, continues to play a pivotal role in shaping Kenya’s amateur golf rankings by awarding vital points and exposure at the national level.
Officials from the Kenya Golf Union (KGU) praised the high level of competition, the pristine condition of the Eldoret course, and NCBA Bank’s continued commitment to advancing amateur golf across the country.
