Home club players Nick Markham and Kate Ngotho were the standout performers at the latest leg of the 2026 NCBA Golf Series held on Saturday at Karen Country Club, sealing overall victories as golfers battled for top honours and qualification slots to the season-ending Grand Finale.

Markham lifted the Overall Men’s title after returning a solid gross score of 75 in a tightly contested field featuring some of the country’s leading club golfers.

After his win, Markham said he was pleased with both his performance and the qualification.

“It feels fantastic to win this leg of the series. I had a good round and great playing partners. My putting wasn’t at its best today, so I feel I could have gone lower, but I’m happy with the result. Qualifying for the Grand Finale shows my game is heading in the right direction,” he said.

In the ladies’ category, Ngotho claimed the Overall Ladies’ title after carding 89 gross on countback, marking a strong comeback following a difficult previous season.

“I am very excited to come out on top because last year was quite a struggle. Qualifying for the finale gives me a chance to compete with other top players and test myself further,” she said.

Paul Kaguamba finished as Men’s Runner-Up on countback with 77 gross, while Margareta Gram took the Ladies’ Runner-Up spot, also on 89 gross countback.

In Division One, Kiunjuri Mathu emerged winner with an impressive 84 gross. Liban Roba finished third on 77 gross on countback, while Lesaan Shani placed fourth with 78 gross on countback.

Division Two saw Edwin Nyairo take the Men’s title with 43 points, while Jacintah Wambugu claimed the Ladies’ crown with 38 points.

In Division Three, junior golfer Mutei Mwendwa won the Men’s category with 38 points, while Susan Kihato topped the Ladies’ section with 41 points.

NCBA Group Managing Director John Gachora praised the continued growth of the series, noting its role in expanding access to competitive golf across the country.

“The NCBA Golf Series continues to provide a platform where golfers can challenge themselves, connect and enjoy the game at some of the country’s best courses. We are encouraged by the strong participation and remain committed to supporting the growth of golf at all levels,” said Gachora.

The Karen leg marked the 16th qualifier in the 2026 NCBA Golf Series, which has attracted thousands of golfers nationwide this season. Winners across various categories secured places at the Grand Finale scheduled for November at Karen Country Club.

The series is part of NCBA’s broader investment in golf development across junior, amateur, professional and club levels in Kenya.
