Mombasa Golf Club’s Edwin Kiptoo emerged as the overall winner of the International Women’s Day Charity Golf Event, organized by the Kenya Association of Women in Tourism (KAWT), on Saturday.
The charity tournament was held at the prestigious Diamonds Leisure Beach and Golf Resort, where Kiptoo carded 38 Stableford points to claim victory.
“I’m sure many of you know that I’m a good golfer, and if you didn’t know, now you know,” said Kiptoo during his victory speech.
Diamonds Leisure Beach and Golf Club Lady Captain Carol Mokaya clinched the ladies’ title, edging out Kerry Venturini, who was the runner-up with 32 points on countback.

In the men’s category, Japie Nierkerk emerged as the overall winner with 36 points, followed by Hiten Kumar and Mitesh Ravji, both with 34 points.
Ken Kimundi took the guest men’s winner title with 36 points, while Major Joel Mochanga was the runner-up with 35 points, and Paul Koech finished third with 31 points.
The junior category saw Alpha Wise claim victory with an impressive 43 points.

Pauline Nduva emphasized that the charity event aimed to raise funds to empower women and young girls.
“Our main job is to lift a sister, and that is what we have been doing,” she said.
She further highlighted KAWT’s role in advocacy and ensuring that women have a seat at decision-making tables.
“You can imagine how women have been disenfranchised in this world. If you see a woman who is successful and has made it, you are looking at a beautiful piece of art—one that has been through highs and lows, joys and tears,” she added.
