A total of 84 golfers from across Africa and beyond will compete in the Betika Masters tournaments — the seventh and eighth legs of the Sunshine Development Tour – East Africa Swing — slated for Vetlab Sports Club (November 2–4) and Limuru Country Club (November 9–11, 2025).

Backed by leading gaming firm Betika as title sponsor, the doubleheader has attracted elite amateurs and professionals from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Malawi, India, and the United States, all chasing a share of the KSh 2 million prize purse per leg, along with valuable OWGR and WAGR points.

Kenya’s charge will be led by top amateurs John Lejirma and Michael Karanga, alongside seasoned pros Dismas Indiza, Njoroge Kibugu, Greg Snow, Mutahi Kibugu, Edwin Mudanyi, David Wakhu, C.J. Wangai, Jastas Madoya, and Nelson Simwa.

Lejirma, fresh from his playoff victory over Njoroge Kibugu at Royal Nairobi Golf Club to claim his maiden Sunshine Development Tour title, said he hopes to build on his winning form.

“Just fresh from winning at my home club, it’s been a tremendous journey so far, full of lessons, growth, and belief… My goal heading into Vetlab and Limuru is to maintain the momentum and stay true to my game plan,” he said.

Karanga, who has made the cut in three of four Tour events this season, hailed the series for providing a professional platform for emerging players.

“This Tour has changed the game for us amateurs… Playing alongside top pros challenges you to raise your standard and believe that you can compete at the highest levels,” he said.

Among the rising stars to watch are juniors Junaid Manji, Ishan Samani, and Tsevi Soni, while the international field will include Uganda’s Phillip Kasozi and Ronald Otile, Tanzania’s Rajab Pembe and Angel Eaton, and Malawi’s Paul Chidale.

The women’s field will feature Naomi Wafula, Jacquelyne Walter, Margaret Njoki, and Joyce Wanjiru from Kenya, and Eaton from Tanzania — reflecting the Tour’s commitment to inclusion and gender diversity.

The Sunshine Development Tour is also supported by EABL (Johnnie Walker), Magical Kenya, Pure Travel, and The Golf Company.
