Jay Sandhu delivered another masterclass to claim the 2026 NCBA Muthaiga Open title, securing consecutive victories on the Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) circuit.

Fresh off his win at the Windsor Classic, the Muthaiga-based golfer stayed in red-hot form, returning rounds of 69, 70, and 72 for a 2-under par total of 211.

He held off a strong field of 145 elite amateurs, including a notable junior contingent, to seal the fifth leg of the series.

Despite late bogeys on holes 10, 13, and 14, Sandhu held his nerve, with crucial birdies on the 4th and 18th ensuring he stayed ahead.

“Winning at Muthaiga is always special, but going back-to-back after Windsor feels incredible,” said Sandhu.

“I had to stay patient on the back nine, and this win gives me great momentum as we build towards next year’s Magical Kenya Open qualification.”

He walked away with the winner’s prize of KSh 115,600 from a KSh 400,000 purse.

John Lejirma of Royal Nairobi Golf Club mounted a strong challenge, finishing second at level par 213 (69, 73, 71).

His final round of 71 featured five birdies, but dropped shots proved costly.

“It was a tight battle all through,” said Lejirma.

“I had my chances, but a few mistakes kept me from closing the gap. Still, I’m encouraged by how I’m playing.”

Michael Karanga claimed third place at 1-over par 214, closing with an impressive 70.

Daniel Kiragu finished fourth on 216, while Bo Ciera rounded out the top five at 217.

Speaking during the prize-giving, NCBA Ciata Mall Branch Manager Emmanuel Leitemu praised the rising standard of the tour, noting the growing competitiveness across the field.

“Watching Jay Sandhu maintain his form and seeing the grit of players like Lejirma and Warigia confirms that the standard of the KAGC is reaching new heights. The circuit is growing stronger with every leg, and we are proud to provide a platform where every performance brings these athletes closer to their professional dreams,” he said.

With the victory, Sandhu strengthens his lead atop the KAGC standings with 560 points.

Junaid Manji sits second on 334, while Lejirma moves into third with 230 points.
